Accreditation Purpose

Accreditation Purpose
To pursue qualitative development and facilitation in medical education, KIMEE accredits programs from 40 medical schools in Korea and publicizes the results as a commitment to its social responsibility.
The process of accreditation prioritizes that the medical schools discover their strengths as well as identify and improve their weak-nesses by themselves through self-study.
Under Article 11 (2) of the Higher Education Act, medical schools in Korea are subject to be evaluated and accredited by the KIMEE. Only those graduated from a school that has been accredited can take a doctoral license examination in accordance with Article 5 of the Medical Service Act.
